What is it With Photographers and Country Roads?

I enjoy going back through my slowly growing archive of images every so often and finding something¬† that for whatever reason didn’t strike me first time around but now begs for attention. It was during one of these recent journeys when I realized that I was subconsciously building a collection of scenes in which the subject matter included a country road. Images taken during return visits to my hometown in the north east of England, visits to my wife’s family in France and my adopted hometown here in the U.S, all featuring country roads. This made me wonder why I was, apparently, drawn to these scenes.¬† Maybe it’s the curiosity of what surprises lie over the horizon or the wonder of what is around the next corner. Either way, I hope this journey continues.
