Perfect Harmony

The outside world was left behind as we entered the canyon. Initially, sound was limited to footsteps, but after a while the senses became attuned to the surroundings and things previously unheard announced themselves. The orchestra of birds, insects and water slowly rolling over rocks played together in perfect tune. A breeze presented a snowfall of cottonwood seeds and the symphony was brought to its climax as the wind slowly rushed through the leaves.

As we rounded the corner an ancient Cottonwood tree raised its branches before us, like a guardian protecting the innermost santuary of the canyon. Permission to enter was only granted when the experience of the moment could be understood. The experience went far beyond seeing a tree surrounded by rocks and running water. Like life itself, the experience was of harmony, any one element of which if removed would create imbalance.
