Revisiting An Old Scene

When I am done with a project I generally feel that I need to put that project behind me and move onto something new.  This is one of the ways that I try to grow photographically. I try to discipline myself to not do the same thing over and over again or “supplement” an already completed project.  Once you become familiar with a subject it is easy to keep going back to it, for fear of missing that once in a lifetime great shot.  Since a body of work should contain only those images that are necessary to tell the intended story, once the story is told, generally I believe it is time to move on.  However, every once in a while I break this little rule, especially if this is the only opportunity that I have to do something photographically.

Such was the case recently when I had to travel the metro system in Washington DC to attend a meeting for my “day job”.  I have a body of work on my website that includes photographs of the metro system in Washington DC, which I used to tell a story about my daily commute when I lived in London.  My story was a already told, but because I find the atmosphere of the underground so fascinating, I always take my camera with me.  You just never know what you are going to find in the world below street level.  And who knows, maybe one day when I look back at these additional photographs I may actually find other stories buried in there.

The images included with this post are a selection of what I saw on that particular day.
